Eman was first registered with the GDC in June 1999 following her graduation from Glasgow University school of dentistry with commendation. She completed her vocational training in North Yorkshire in the beautiful market town of Northallerton. She returned to Glasgow to carryout a number of senior house officer jobs in various specialties in dentistry including oral and maxillofacial surgery. In 2003 she started her three year specialist training in orthodontics at Kings College hospital in London and the royal surrey hospital in Guildford. At the latter she was lucky to attend the cleft lip and palate joint specialty clinics on monthly basis, and experience that was not available to many of her peers. She graduated with Masters degree from King’s College London University. Eman has worked with children for many years and she enjoys continuing to do so as an orthodontist.

She is also a clinical supervisor at Edinburgh Dental Institute EDI, training young orthodontic trainees and Edinburgh University Masters students. She believes strongly in continuous professional development of herself and staff alike, hence she ensures that staff are able to attend courses and study days that enrich their knowledge and improves their skills. Eman is a member of many professional bodies and sits on some of their council committees.

Outside orthodontics, she enjoys spending her time with her husband, children and friends. Eman also spends considerable time carrying out voluntary work, organising and participating in community charitable events.

Dr Alkalaly's journey to becoming an orthodontist reflects his dedication to patient care and continuous learning. After graduating with honors from Cairo University in 1999, he began his career as a dentist in Cairo with an interest in orthodontics.

Seeking to become a highly qualified and skilled orthodontist, Dr Alkalaly pursued opportunities abroad. He completed a Craniofacial Fellowship in Taiwan in 2003, focusing on orthodontic treatment for patients with cleft lips and palates. He then furthered his studies in Japan, engaging in orthodontic postgraduate studies and contributing to several research projects published in international journals. Subsequently, he earned a PhD in orthodontics from the University of Hong Kong in 2011. After receiving his PhD, he worked as an orthodontic specialist for a few years before undertaking a 3-year Doctorate in clinical dentistry in orthodontics at the University of Edinburgh (Edinburgh Dental Institute). He graduated with distinction and was awarded the prestigious Narin Wilson Medal for clinical and academic excellence from Edinburgh Dental Institutes.

Dr. Alkalaly is a registered dentist with the General Dental Council (GDC) and is a specialist orthodontist. He served as a locum Consultant Orthodontist at NHS Dumfries and Galloway and Scottish Borders. Additionally, Dr. Alkalaly is a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons. He also holds a Master's degree in Health Informatics from the University of Edinburgh and the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, which aims to improve healthcare by applying Health Information Technology (HIT) and information science to healthcare delivery.

Outside of work, Dr. Alkalaly enjoys spending time with his family, exploring new technologies, staying active, and traveling.
Louise Turner

Louise obtained a Diploma in Orthodontic Therapy from Bristol Dental School in 2012. She also has additional qualifications in dental radiography and oral health promotion. Louise has been an Orthodontic Therapist for 11 years!

Her role in the practice involves all aspects of patient care from beginning to end. She finds great satisfaction in taking the patient through their treatment and seeing their final result. Outside of work Louise enjoys climbing hills. She is a keen marathon runner and likes to travel to new cities to combine traveling with running.
Asha Gurung

Asha moved to Edinburgh and joined the Ardmillan Orthodontic team in Dec 2020.
She trained and qualified as a dental nurse in a general dental practice in England. Asha is registered with the GDC after gaining her (NEBDN) certificate in March 2019
Moving from general dental practice to orthodontics has been an exciting change, which she is embracing. Asha is also qualified in Dental Radiography qualification. 
She has proved herself so quickly and was promoted to head nurse in 2021. Asha is also our practice administrative manager.

Outside of work Asha loves spending her time with her husband and children, cooking and socialising with friends.
Miriam Williamson

Miriam joined Ardmillan Orthodontics in 2020. She is a highly experienced orthodontic nurse and practice administrator with over 23 years’ experience working in wide-ranging roles within specialist practices. Miriam is a qualified dental nurse and is registered with the GDC. Miriam is committed to providing the best of patient experiences here at Ardmillan Orthodontics. As our front of house contact she coordinates appointments to suit our patients needs on their orthodontic journey. Miriam is also the practice operational manager, ensuring the smooth running od the practice on daily basis.

Away from work she enjoys travelling, reading and spending time with her family and her two cats.

Sydney Started dental nursing at the age of 16, gained dental nurse qualification in 2011 as well as radiography a few years later. Sydney enjoys the patient journey aspect of the job the most as she likes to chat to patients and parents to allow it be an excellent experience for them both when they visit the practice.

In Sydney’s spare time she enjoys spending time with family friends and her dog Hughie.

Katie gained her dental nursing qualification in December 2022 and joined the Ardmillan team in July 2023.

Katie is hoping to develop her skills by enrolling on the dental radiography course. In Katie’s spare time she likes to spend time with friends, family and her 2 naughty cats.

TRAINEE DENTAL NURSE
Mariam joined the Ardmillan Orthodontics team in May 2022. Mariam is currently training to gain her dental nursing qualification. She is finding her training to be hard work but very rewarding.

One of the things that she particularly loves about the orthodontic work is that she is helping people get the smile they want and boost their confidence. Outside of work Mariam enjoys spending time with family and friends, baking and jewellery making.
